Edna Weber

Hastings resident, Edna Weber, 92, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Aurora Memorial Hospital, Aurora, Nebraska.

Services will be Friday, April 22, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at New York Avenue Congregational Church, Hastings with Pastor Greg Volzke officiating. Burial will be Friday, April 22, 2011; 1:30 P.M. in Assumption Cemetery, Assumption, Nebraska with Jim Donley officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20, 2011; 6:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M., Thursday, April 21, 2011; 1:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to New York Avenue Congregational Church or to the family.

Edna was born September 21, 1918 in Hastings, Nebraska to Jacob & Anna (Pfeif) Bernhardt. She graduated from Hastings High School and Hastings Business College and then served as secretary to the Mayor of Hastings. On November 6, 1941 she married Paul “Bud” Weber; he preceded her in death on April 17, 1978. She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Edna was a lifelong member of the New York Avenue Congregational Church and had great joy in serving others. Her faith was foundational and evident in all she did. Edna also enjoyed membership in the Adams County Historical Society and the German-Russian Society.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul “Bud” Weber; granddaughter, Angelia Katzberg; brothers & sisters-in-law, Jack & Leah Bernhardt and Reuben & Hilda Bernhardt; sister & brother-in-law, Lydia & Orville Ringsted; and sister-in-law, Lydia Bernhardt.
