Doniphan
resident, Paul E. Imler, 74, of 318 Church Street, died Thursday, April
24, 2008 at his home in Doniphan, Nebraska.Memorial service will be Monday, April 28, 2008; 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church, Doniphan, Nebraska with Rev. Jocelyn Tupper officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Cedarview Cemetery, Doniphan, Nebraska. Book signing will be Saturday, April 26, 2008; 9:00 A.M. 5:00 P.M. and Sunday, April 27, 2008; 4:00 P.M. 7:00 P.M at the funeral home in Hastings, and Monday, April 28, 2008; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Paul E. Imler Memorial Fund. Paul Everett Imler, youngest son of William A. and Nora Almyra Jane (Osborne) Imler, was born July 20, 1933 near the Round Mound northeast of Lovewell, Kansas. He received his elementary education at the White Rock and Sweet Hill country schools and graduated from Montrose Rural High School in 1951 as salutatorian of his class. He then farmed with his father until being drafted into the U.S. Army in January of 1954. After basic training at Ft. Riley, Kansas he was sent to Ft. McClellan, Alabama for advanced training in Chemical, Biological & Radiological warfare, and then sent to Korea. While in Korea he served with the 21st Cml. Co. (Deioni), 71st Cml. Co., (SG), 8th Army, and the 57th F. A. Bn., 7th Division. In December 1955 he was released from active duty and transferred into the Army Reserves at Ft. Ord, California receiving his Honorable Discharge on December 2, 1962. On September 27th, 1959 he was united in marriage to Eloise Dunstan at the Formoso Community Church, Formoso, Kansas. To this union four children were born, Randy, Brenda, Julie and Roger. Upon completing his military obligation he spent the next 42 years as an engineering equipment operator, until retiring in July of 1998, working for many different contractors on irrigation projects, road construction and soil conservation.Mr. Imler was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wilma and Frances and brother Glenn.
