Hastings resident, Dorothy Lemke, 88, of 726 So. St. Joseph, died
Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Perkins Pavilion. No visitation or service. Private family inurnment in Grand Island Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska. Mrs. Lemke was born August 21, 1919 in Hall County, Nebraska to Harry & Alma (Jochnick) Nietfeldt She attended school in Grand Island and married Ernest Harris. Ernie & Dorothy owned and operated ‘Ernie’s Shoe Repair until his death in 1971. Their sons carried on with the business. In 1971, she married Vernon Lemke and he preceded her in death in 1984. She retired from the Hastings Regional Center where she was a cafeteria cook. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Mrs. Lemke was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ernest Harris & Vernon Lemke; son, Jerry ‘Ernie’ Harris; brothers, Lewis & Lester Nietfeldt and a great granddaughter, Hayley Rae McKimmy.
