Former Hastings resident, Helene Kristine Nauenburg, 99, of Rose Brook Care Center, Edgar, Nebraska, died Friday, April 11, 2008 at Rose Brook Care Center.

Services will be Tuesday, April 15, 2008; 1:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2008; 9am-9pm with family present 7pm-8pm. Memorials may be given to the family.

Mrs. Nauenburg was born May 9, 1908 in Lindsay, NE to Wilhelm and Anna (Christensen) Larsen. She attended County grade school which went through the 10th grade and graduated from Columbus High School and attended her 70th class reunion. She was an accomplished musician; she played the violin, piano, organ, banjo and the piano accordion. She married Louis Nauenburg November 15, 1929 and they lived in several areas of Nebraska Colorado and New Mexico due to his work. They then moved to Hastings in 1942. She was a seamstress for 20 years, and worked at J. M. McDonalds Retail for seven years. Her memberships include First United Methodist Church, Church Women’s Group, Eagles Auxiliary Trustee and Pianist, an Extension Club, Friendship Tea, Friday Friends, AARP,YWCA, After 5 Club and Knights of Pythias. Hobbies were gardening, sewing and crocheting. She drove until her eyes started to fail her at the age of 93.

Helene Nauenburg was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis, 2 sons, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
