Helen C. Whitten, 99, of 1120 N. Saunders, died Tuesday, September 10,
2002 at her home. Services will be Friday, September 13, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Doug Griger officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Helen C. Whitten was born December 21, 1902 in Phillips County, Kansas to Sam A. & Emma (Hall) Matteson. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Phillipsburg, Kansas and attended Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas for 2 years. She married Joy J. Whitten on October 16, 1926 and he preceded her in death in 1985. She was a homemaker and taught school in the earlier years. She moved from Guide Rock, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1967. Helen C. Whitten was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joy, son, Leonard Whitten, grandson, Dennis Whitten, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
