Hastings resident, Merle G. Williams, 73, of 2702 W. 8th St., died
Friday, October 22, 2004 at his home. Services will be Tuesday, October 26, 2004; 10:30 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Mr. Williams was born June 22, 1931 in Oberlin, Kansas. He was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska at the White Hall Home for Children. He attended school in Lincoln. At the age of sixteen, he went to Oberlin, Kansas to live with Delbert & LaVonne Rounsley. He married Wava Long of Norcatur, Kansas on March 7, 1953. They lived in Hastings, Nebraska where he worked for Western Land Roller for 40 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by two brothers, Gale Williams and a twin brother, Earl Williams. Survivors include, Wife: Wava Williams - Hastings, NE Daughters & Sons-in-law: LeAnn & Tom Tripp - Littleton, CO Debbie & Keith Shelton - Hastings, NE Sons & Daughter-in-law: Larry Williams - Ravenna, NE Mark & Pam Williams - Aurora, NE Sister: Erma DeRock - Omaha, NE Grandchildren: 12 Kristen Tripp Trae Tripp Zachary Tripp Brandon Williams Cody Williams Travis Williams Michaela Williams Jeff Shelton Heather Shelton Michael Shelton Blake Williams Brooke Williams Memorial may be given to Grace United Methodist Church Family Center Building Fund VISITATION: Mon.10-25-04; 5pm-9pm Tue. 10-26-04; 1 hr. prior to service at the church |
