Melvin
L. Thayer, 72, of 703 Crane Avenue died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at
Haven Home of Kenesaw. Services will be Tuesday, December 12, 2006; 2:30
P. M. at Butler Volland Chapel with Pastor Robert Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Glenvil Cemetery, Glenvil, Nebraska. Visitation will
be Monday 9am-9pm with family present from 7pm-8pm and Tuesday 9am until
service time at the funeral home. Memorials are to the Donors Choice.
Mr. Thayer was born July 12, 1934 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Elmer
& Annette (Reiher) Thayer. He attended Kenesaw High School and served in
the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1956 during the Korean War. He was
stationed out of Waco, Texas. He married Violet White on February 21,
1959 in Hastings. He worked for Dutton Lainson and retired in 1996 as a
foreman. He has lived in Hastings since 1965 and was a member of
Redeemer Lutheran Church and past member of the Hastings Mens Bowling
Association. He loved to fish and attend car races.
Mr. Thayer was preceded in death by his parents.
