Marcella Hlavaty, 101, of Perkins Pavilion died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Perkins Pavilion. Rosary will be Friday, November 24, 2006; 7:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 25, 2006; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.Visitation will be Friday 4PM-9PM at the funeral home.

Mary Marcella Brown Hlavaty was born August 10, 1905 at Fremont, Nebraska to Edward & Mary (Ryan) Brown. She was the sixth of ten children. She attended St. Patrick’s parochial school in Fremont, Nebraska. At the end of 8th grade, she started to work for Kresge & Co. She was later hired to work for Singer Sewing Machine Co. In 1929, she moved to McCook, Nebraska still working for Singer Co. She also worked in Council Bluffs and moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1932. In Hastings she met and married Wilford S. Hlavaty on December 4, 1934. She retired from the Singer Co. at age 65 in 1970. Wilford passed away on April 3, 1996 in Hastings. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wilford S. Hlavaty. infant sister and six brothers.
