Hastings resident, Roger W. Volkmer,79, of 1115 West 3rd Street, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at his home.

Rosary will be Monday, April 9, 2007; 10:00 A.M. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 A.M. St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Mary Lanning Hospice or Hastings Catholic Schools Trust. Visitation will be Saturday, April 7, 2007; 9AM-9PM, Sunday, April 8, 2007; 1PM-5PM at the funeral home & Monday, April 9, 2007, 1 hr. prior to service at the church.

Mr. Volkmer was born November 19, 1927 in Fillmore County Nebraska to Ernest & Emma (Reinsch) Volkmer. He graduated from Geneva High School and married Josephine J. Kaeding in 1951. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from February 21,1951 to February 20, 1953. He moved from Red Cloud, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1955. He worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads and was a construction project manager for Maury Corporation and L.J. Webb. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Volkmer was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ervin & Kenneth Volkmer and a sister, Delores Volkmer.
