Hastings resident, Roman M. Jarzynka, 75, of 827 N. 2nd Avenue, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Saint Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska. Rosary will be Friday, October 3, 2008; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 4, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday, October 3, 2008; 4:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Saturday, October 4, 2008, 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. Mr. Jarzynka was born May 9, 1933 in Sherman County, near Hazard, Nebraska to Anton & Antonia (Badura) Jarzynka. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from April 30, 1953 to December 12, 1956. After his discharge he married Donna M. Pogorelski on January 19, 1957 and they moved to Hastings. He was a grain inspector for CPI and a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #11. Roman enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing. Mr. Jarzynka was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Chester, Stanley & Cliff and five sisters, Ernestine Tesmer, Esther Miller, Irene Whitley, Leona Woolery, and Edyn Verbeck Survivors include: |
