Dorothy I. (Benker) Asmus

Hastings resident, Dorothy I. (Benker) Asmus, 96, of Regency Retirement Residence of Hastings, 1235 North Laird, died Sunday, September 7, 2008 at her home.

Services will be Friday, September 12, 2008; 10:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. William G. Nottage-Tacey officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 10, 2008; 5:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M., Thursday, September 11, 2008; 9:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Friday, September 12, 2008, 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church or Make A Wish Foundation.

Mrs. Asmus was born April 7, 1912 in Bladen, Nebraska to Henry & Mattie (Loudy) Feis. She graduated from Bladen High School and married Eldon Benker on September 17, 1931. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1988. She was director of Industrial Therapy at Hastings Regional Center for 42 years. On September 16, 1990, she married Dale Asmus. She was a life long area resident and a member of First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in various church organizations as well as the Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of D.O.E.S. Dorothy was a most loving and caring, wife, mother and grandmother that will be missed by all her family and friends.

Mrs. Asmus was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Eldon Benker; sisters, Betty Paymal, Melva Sorenson, Hazel Reed and Lula Kral; brothers, Bud Feis, Dick Feis and stepson, Keith Asmus.
