Former
Hastings resident, David Hodge Aabel, 72, passed away Sunday, August 28,
2011 in Clatonia, Nebraska.
Burial Office will be Thursday, September 1, 2011; 11:00 A.M. at Saint
Mark’s Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Hastings, Nebraska with The Rev.
Catherine F. Scott officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the
Minden Cemetery, Minden, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, August
31, 2011; 2:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. and Thursday, September 1, 2011; 9:00
A.M. – 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the
David H. Aabel Memorial Fund for diabetes.
David was born January 17, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri to Lloyd &
Josephine (Pierce) Aabel. He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in
Phillipsburg, Kansas. David married Charlene E. Smith in 1974; she
preceded him in death on March 12, 2010. David served in the U.S. Army.
He worked as a custodian for Hastings High School and was a member of
Saint Mark’s Episcopal Pro-Cathedral. David’s hobby was model
railroad trains.
David was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Charlene E. Aabel.
