Longtime Hastings resident, Jeanette “Jan” H. Moorhead, 65, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.

The remains were cremated. As per Jeanette’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested for the infant room at Good Samaritan Children’s Ark in Hastings.

Jeanette was born August 18, 1946, to Vincent & Nelda (McRoberts) Barenberg in Benkelman, Nebraska. She attended Litchfield High School before graduating from St. Cecilia High School in 1964. In 1967, she was united in marriage to Gilbert “Gib” H. Moorhead. Jeanette was employed by Queen City Laundry, Herberger’s, Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, and Good Samaritan Children’s Ark, where she also worked as a volunteer grandmother after retiring.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, Vincent Barenberg; mother-in-law, Dorothy (Moore) Cave; father-in-law, Raymond Moorhead; and brothers-in-law, David Moorhead and Robert Hoffman.

She enjoyed cooking and baking for others, especially children. Jeanette will be remembered as a woman with a big heart. She had a great love for her family and gave freely to others.
