June went to her heavenly home at the age of 86. June was born to Hugh
Hoy and Ruth Hughes Hoy on June 4, 1925 in Burke, South Dakota. During
the Second World War she moved to Hastings as a young woman with her
family. Her father was employed by Maxon construction building the
ammunition depot just outside of town.
June married Ivan Woodard on July 27, 1951. Ivan and June raised their
family in the home on 2nd Street where she lived with Ivan until his
death in 2010. Together they opened their home to many Thanksgiving and
Christmas celebrations we will always remember.
June worked for 35 years for Ben Sherman’s Menswear and later at Rhodes
Menswear. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed her work.
June loved praising Jesus. It was June that showed many of her loved
ones the way to Heaven by loving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She
was a prayer warrior and was always quick to offer prayer for any
situation. The loss of June will leave an enormous void in us all, but
her legacy of loving Christ will live on in us forever. She was a member
of North Shore Assembly of God Church and a founding member of
“Keenagers” Thursday morning coffee group at North Shore Assembly of God
Church.
She was a trusted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend to
all. June always had a place in her heart and home for anyone. She would
offer a seat at her kitchen table and a cup of coffee for family and
friends. If it was the last piece of pie, she would always offer you
half! We will cherish the stories, laughter and tears shared in June’s
kitchen.
Spring and summer mornings would find June busy tending her flower
gardens. Her roses and Iris brought joy to many family celebrations.
June is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Woodard; parents; and
brothers, Lawrence Hoy and Harold (Bill) Hoy.
