Hastings
resident, Ernestine Elizabeth Crabtree, 101, died Sunday, December 25,
2011 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village,
Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Saturday, December 31, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at First St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Joel Remmers
officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Visitation will be Friday, December 30, 2011 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. and one
hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be
given to First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Ernestine was born December 26, 1909 to John and Elizabeth Sigel in
Streator, Illinois. At the age of 6 months she and her parents and
brother Arthur moved to Nebraska. They settled in Hastings where she
grew up and graduated from Hastings High School in 1928. She was
confirmed at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in 1924 at the age of 14.
She was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Lutheran League
and sang in the church choir. Ernestine was also active in PTA, church
circle, taught Sunday school, member of senior fellowship and was
superintendent of Sunday school. She married Raymond C. “Ray” Crabtree
on November 28, 1929 at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and he preceded
her in death on September 22, 1994. She assisted her husband in their
business, Radio Electronics, for 30 years. Ernestine enjoyed playing the
organ for others, especially residents of Village Green at Good
Samaritan.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her, husband, Raymond, daughter,
Janet, son Richard and her parents.
