Former Glenvil resident, John Edward Willaim. Everson, 92, passed away Thursday,
December 29, 2011 at Haven Home in Kenesaw, Nebraska.
Services will be Wednesday, January 4, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel
Lutheran Church, Glenvil with Pastor Jeff Glawe officiating. Burial with
military rites will be in Glenvil Cemetery, Glenvil, Nebraska.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials
may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil.
John Edward William Everson was born May 5, 1919 in Griggs County, North
Dakota near Walum at the family home to Edwin W. & Sylvia (Brunberg)
Everson. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. John married Evelyn I.
Ockinga on March 8, 1947 in Clay Center, NE; she preceded him in death
on October 2, 2006. He worked as a finish carpenter for several
companies. John was the Mayor of Glenvil for a number of years, was on
the School Board, and was very active in the Glenvil area where he
volunteered much of his time. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran
Church in Glenvil, Chorus of the Plains, and a lifetime member of the
American Legion in Glenvil.
John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn I. Everson;
sisters, Thelma Rondestvedt & Virginia Rondestvedt; and brothers, Robert
Everson & Ralph Everson.
