Doniphan resident, Brenda J. (Barton) Schmidt, 50, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, January 17, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene, Hastings with Rev. David L. Speicher officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, January 15, 2011; 1:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M., Sunday, January 16, 2011; 1:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Juvenile Diabetes or Doniphan Public Schools.

Brenda was born November 28, 1960 in Kearney, Nebraska to Carl F. & Betty L. (Sands) Barton. They moved to Hastings when she was a young child where she attended St. Cecilia’s schools. She moved to California and then back to Hastings in the 1980’s. On February 17, 1996 she married Michael V. Schmidt in Jamaica. She was a co-owner of Business World Products in Hastings. Brenda was part of the Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene family. She loved her work and family; Brenda and Mike were raising two grandchildren, Hailey and Austin.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents.
