Former Hastings resident, Kenneth F. Bundgaard, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Kearney County Health Services Long-Term Care, Minden, Nebraska.

Services will be Wednesday, January 4, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church, Hastings with Rev. Marcus J. Mackay officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 3, 2012; 1:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska; Fredericksburg Lutheran Church, Minden, Nebraska; or United Presbyterian Church in Minden, Nebraska.

Kenneth was born February 10, 1924 in Keene, Nebraska to Jens & Minnie (Walberg) Bundgaard. His parents were married in 1912; Jens Bundgaard immigrated from Denmark in 1904. Jens & Minnie Bundgaard had two children, Kenneth F. & Margaret; who passed away when she was one year old. Kenneth married Lorraine Manns in 1941. They lived in Bendorff, Iowa; Canton, Ohio; Cincinnati, Ohio and then moved home to Minden, Nebraska. Kenneth and Lorraine had two children, Kenneth James & Colleen Joan. Ken was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine Bundgaard in 1952. Kenneth married Iris Wells in 1965; she preceded him in death in 1970. Kenneth married LaVonne Trine Ockinga in 1974; she preceded him in death on July 19, 2011. Kenneth farmed his land south of Minden most of his working career. In 1989, Ken & LaVonne retired from farming, and moved to Hastings. Kenny immediately found his next career for 20 years as a greeter at Wal-Mart. Ken was active in the Danish community and with lifelong friends in Minden. His hobbies included collecting belt buckles, John Deere collectibles, and animal figures surrounding his home. Ken was active in square dancing and traveled extensively during his retirement years.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Lorraine, Iris, and LaVonne; sister, Margaret Bundgaard; and great-granddaughter, Addison Marks.
