Harvard resident, Elmer M. Johnson, 83, passed away Friday, January 6,
2012 at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, Nebraska.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, January 10, 2012; 11:00 A.M. at First
United Methodist Church, Harvard with Pastor Dean Joy officiating. There
will be no visitation; book signing will be Saturday, January 7, 2012;
1:00 P.M. 5:00 P.M., Monday, January 9, 2012; 9:00 A.M. 5:00 P.M. at
Butler Volland Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service at the
church. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be
established at a later date.
Elmer was born April 28, 1928 in Chopin, Louisiana to John D. & Ollie
(Nichols) Johnson. He served in the Armed Forces for a time. Elmer
married Geraldine Brehm on October 17, 1945; to this marriage four
children were born. He married Florence Billie (Holtz) Brehm on
February 28, 1981 in Harvard, Nebraska. Elmer owned and operated J & C
Oil Company in McCook, Nebraska, and ran a charter fishing business in
Ingleside, Texas for a number of years.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ray, W.L.,
James, and Roy; and two sisters, Anna and Rosie.
