Hastings resident, Evalin F. Kleinjan, 94, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Wednesday, January 11, 2012; 6:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 12, 2012; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 11, 2012; 1:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Right to Life.

Evalin was born October 10, 1917 in Vermillion, South Dakota to Xavier & Ida (Couture) Millette. She graduated from Vermillion High School. Evalin married Clarence Burdette Kleinjan on May 25, 1934; he preceded her in death in 1975. She worked as a waitress; nurse’s aide at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital; and a psych technician at the Hastings Regional Center. Evalin was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Legion of Mary, Catholic Daughters, Adoration Society, and Franciscan 3rd Order.

Evalin was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Burdette Kleinjan; son, Fred Kleinjan; daughter, Mary Tarkenton; and three grandchildren, Evalin (Connie) Mills, Joshua R. Kleinjan, and Shannon Maria Briseno.
