Former Holstein resident, Anna Marie Riese, 85, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 at College View Assisted Living and Memory Support, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, July 5, 2011; 10:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, Holstein with Rev. Stuart Davis officiating. Burial will be in Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, July 2, 2011; 5:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M., Sunday, July 3, 2011; 1:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. with family present from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the church. A memorial will be established at a later date.

Anna Marie was born August 22, 1925 on the family farm to Leland Keister Sr. and Edna May (Eighmy) Keister. She graduated from Roseland High School in 1942. She attended Hastings College, and was a teacher in rural Adams County for several years. On June 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Erwin Dale Riese of Holstein. Anna Marie was a lifelong member of the Holstein community. For over 25 years she spent her winters in Zapata, Texas, where she had many close friends. She enjoyed walking in the mornings, coffee with her friends, playing cards, reading, and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She was a member of the Holstein United Methodist Church and the Holstein American Legion Auxiliary Post 305.

Anna Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin Dale; brother-in-law, Leo Schmidt; and sister-in-law, Darlene Sanford.
