Grand Island resident, Eldon W. Nowka, 67, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Wedgewood Care Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Graveside services will be Friday, March 28, 2008; 11:00 A.M. at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Curtis Holzworth of Evangelical Free Church of Grand Island officiating. Those attending should gather at Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home at 10:45 A.M. on Friday. A luncheon will be held at Butler-Volland Funeral Home Family Reception Room following graveside services. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to Grand Island Humane Society or Heartland Pet Connection, Hastings, Nebraska.

Mr. Nowka was born September 26, 1940 in Hastings, Nebraska to Walter & Anna (Heye) Nowka. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1958 and married Carol L. Alleman on June 2, 1963. He graduated from Hastings College in 1970 and earned his Masters Degree from Central Michigan University in 1982. He worked in the lab at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. They lived in Hastings, Doniphan and were currently living in Grand Island, Nebraska. He volunteered at the Goodwill and also the Salvation Army in Grand Island. He was a former private pilot and enjoyed model airplanes.

Mr. Nowka was preceded in death by his parents.
