resident, Edna “Lenore” Koch, 91, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011
at The Homestead Assisted Living, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Wednesday, November 23, 2011; 2:00 P.M. at Butler
Volland Chapel, Hastings, with Pastor Tony Dawson officiating. Burial
will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Tuesday,
November 22, 2011; 1:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. and Wednesday, November 23,
2011; 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given
to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
Lenore as she was known was born April 4, 1920, in Inavale, Nebraska,
the daughter of Willie and Bertha (Johnson) Mattison. She grew up in the
Campbell, Nebraska area with her two brothers Vernon and Bernard. She
was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Norwegian Lutheran Church south
of Campbell. She graduated from Campbell High School in 1938. She taught
at Rural School No. 47 in Franklin, Nebraska for two years. On June 11,
1940 she married Edward William Koch. The Koch’s had four sons, Larry,
Gerald, Dennis and Robert. They lived on several farms in Adams County.
In September, 1987 Larry passed away in Iowa. They moved from the farm
to Hastings, Nebraska in December of 1988. Edward passed away March 4,
1999. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and making afghans for her Children,
Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Her chocolate pie and homemade
bread were her family’s favorites. Lenore was an Election Poll worker
for many years.
Lenore was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; son,
Larry; grandson, Christopher Koch; great-grandson, Nathaniel Longstein;
and brothers, Vernon and Bernard Mattison.
