Hastings resident, Lleland “Bud” D. Frickey, 88, died Saturday October
22, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Service will be Wednesday October 26, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at Peace Lutheran
Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Marcus J. Mackay officiating. Burial
with military rites will be Wednesday at 1:30 P.M. in Glenvil Cemetery,
Glenvil, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church or
Crossroads Rescue Mission. Visitation will be Tuesday October 25, 2011;
9 A.M. to 9 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service
at the church on Wednesday.
Bud Frickey was born April 5, 1923 to George & Carrie (Foster) Frickey
on a ranch 8 miles south of Chappell, Nebraska. He graduated from
Chappell High School. He served in the U.S. Army overseas from January
of 1945 to February of 1946; his decorations include the American
Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater and the World War II Victory
Medal. Bud worked in construction, civil service and farmed. On
September 27, 1952 he married Helen Fredricks and she preceded him in
death on March 8, 2011. His hobbies included wood carving, golf, card
playing, antique automobiles and traveling. Bud had been a member of the
Antique Car Club, GSV Golf Club and American Legion of Glenvil. He had
served as the treasurer at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at Sidney and
Immanuel Lutheran Church at Glenvil. He was a member of Peace Lutheran
Church of Hastings.
Bud Frickey was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen (Fredricks)
Frickey, sister, LoRene Reed and brothers, Harry Frickey, Kenneth
Frickey and Rex Frickey.
