Alexis Pearl Longshore, 16, of Hastings, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Saturday August 15, 2026 at Children’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
Lexi was born on June 9, 2010 in Hastings, Nebraska to parents Chris & Megan. She attended Hastings High School. She loved music, reading, crafting, playing the violin, doing her nails, hanging out with her friends, and collecting gemstones. She had a special bond with her dogs and her two rabbits.
Lexi was diagnosed with Stage IV Rhabdomyosarcoma on November 15, 2024. From the moment of her diagnosis, she faced every new challenge, procedure, and treatment with positivity, humor, and bravery. She went through things that no one should ever have to experience, but somehow continued to shine brighter than ever. Each new challenge pushed her to recognize her own strength and to experience deeper gratitude and joy for the simple moments together. As a result, against all odds, during her two year battle she reported being happier than she had been before her diagnosis. Her resilience and joy in the face of the impossible inspired everyone around her.
The final months of Lexi’s life included trips to Walt Disney World in Florida and to the Oregon coast, passing her driver’s test and buying her first car, and hanging out with her dear friends, all while she continued her cancer treatments. We are so thankful for these precious moments and memories, and that she was strong and healthy enough for so long to do the things she loved.
