Hastings resident Anita M. Stack, 68, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. Anita’s wishes were to be cremated. There will be no viewing or visitation. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
Anita M. Stack was born in Lake City, Iowa, in 1957. She was born to Raymond and Helen (Lamberty) Kelly. She lived on a farm outside of Lake City Iowa until she was five years old, then moved to Denver, Colorado. Anita graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1976. Once graduated, Anita moved to Arnold, Nebraska, then moved to Hastings, Nebraska with two children: Michelle and John. She was working at Richard Janitorial at Flowserve where she met her present husband, Thomas. After dating for a period of time, they were married January 6th, 1990. She then went on to begin her most significant accomplishment, her journey in sobriety in 1989 on February 2nd for 37 years. In her sobriety, she began to work at the wellness center as an office manager along with Keno as a bar manager. She was a member of the KP Club, and the Eagle’s Club. In her spare time, she loved doing crafts and would give them away to friends and family. Her all-time favorite country artists were Loretta Lynn and Elvis. Her favorite song was Coal Miner's Daughter. Anita and Thomas would also do some karaoke with family and at the Eagle’s Club. She loved traveling to Vegas or out in the country. Some of her fondest memories were spending time with her children and grandchildren, and the birth of her first grandchild, along with all of the other grandchildren. A few of the greatest inspirations in life were her spirituality and her children. Her favorite color was purple, her favorite flower was an orchid, and she loved some fried chicken! If she could do her life all over again, she would choose not to smoke.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas; sister, Andrea; children, Michelle (Chris), John (Elly Mae), Kimberly, Aubrey, and James; grandchildren: Lexi, Lizzi, Matthew, Jericho, Enoch, Bianca, Jami, Serenity, Sebastian, and Carter; and her great-grandchildren, Greyson and Harley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Helen; sister, Carol; grandparents; son, Michael; and her mother & father in-law.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:4
