Barbara E. Butler, the daughter of Floyd and Vlasta (Janko) Butler, was born March 10, 1946, in Hastings, NE. She passed away March 25, 2026 at her home in Hastings, NE.
Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 at Butler Volland Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings, NE. with Father Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings, NE. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. April 6, 2026 at Butler Volland Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Start Over Rover, or Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Barbara graduated from St. Cecilia High School in 1964 and from Hastings College in 1969 with a B.A. in physical education. Barb also took graduate classes at Kearney State College.
Barb taught and coached for thirteen years and the Youth Development Center in Geneva, Nebraska. She then worked with adults at Martin Luther Home. After that, Barb worked at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in the psychiatric department with the adults and youth. Later, Barb worked at Hastings Catholic Schools for over fifteen years driving bus, cleaning, and doing lawn care. She also mowed the lawn for St. Cecilia Catholic Church for several years.
During Barb’s lifetime, besides coaching volleyball, basketball, and softball, she enjoyed bowling, playing volleyball and softball. For several years Barb participated in local bowling leagues as well as state and national tournaments.
Barb was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Michael’s Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of the America’s Court William McDonald #1009, and the South Central Czech Society.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
