Barbara Egan

November 5, 1928 — March 29, 1960

Hastings resident, Barbara Joan Egan, 78, of 10 Cranbrook Lane, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Memorial service will be Monday, August 6, 2007; 11:00 A.M. at Second Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. W.T. Israel officiating. Private family interment. No visitation, Mrs. Egan was cremated. Memorials may be given to Second Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Egan was born November 5, 1928 at Guide Rock, Nebraska to John & Marie (McMillian) Sims. She grew up in the Nuckolls County area and attended and graduated from Nelson High School in 1945. She moved to Toledo, Ohio, where she met and married Paul Gibson. To this union was born five children. They later divorced in 1957. She moved to Hastings, Nebraska and was a healthcare provider for 40 years at the Hastings Regional Center, retiring in 1991. On March 29, 1960, she married Thomas R. Egan. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included gardening, camping, fishing and traveling.

Mrs. Egan was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Toni; two sisters, Betty Valentine & Janice Stromer and two brothers, Earl Sims & Bill Sims.

Daughter: Gene Gibson - San Francisco, CA
Sons: Kenneth Gibson - Kenesaw, NE
Kurt Gibson - Juniata, NE
James Gibson - Kampala Uganda, Africa
Grandchildren: Alissa Gibson, Nicole Gibson, Samantha Gibson, Leslie Gibson, Chance Gibson, Kelsi Gibson, Casey Gibson, Nicki Gibson, Cassi Gibson, Jesse Gibson and Britney Gibson
