Barbara A Hager

Former Hastings resident Barbara A. Hager, 88, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the UNMC in Omaha, NE. Private Graveside services will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

Barbara was born March 15, 1938, the only child of August and Lucille Lutkemier. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend whose family meant everything to her. Barbara met the love of her life, Gale Hager, and the two were united in marriage on May 15, 1992. Together they shared many wonderful years until Gale’s passing on May 26, 2019.

Barbara dedicated many years to her work as a secretary and bookkeeper and took pride in doing her job well. She worked for several companies throughout her career, including Morrison and Quirk, Hastings Meat Supply, and Lawless Distributor. With her exceptional organizational skills, she also took great pride in managing the family farms up until her passing. During their retirement years, Gale and Barb enjoyed traveling across the United States in their motor home before eventually settling in Sun City, Arizona. Following Gale’s passing,

Barbara returned to Nebraska to be closer to the greatest joys of her life – her three grandsons and later, her two great-granddaughters. Barbara also had a special love for animals, especially her beloved dogs, Jakey and Booker. In honor of that love, memorials may be directed to Start Over Rover c/o Vicki Krueger, 134 N. Barbara will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gale Hager.
