Barbara Hilgendorf

Hastings resident, Barbara "Barb" J. Hilgendorf, 61, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012 at Mary Lanning HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.

A Memorial Service will be Friday, August 17, 2012; 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. William Nottage-Tacey officiating. Memorials in Barb's memory may be sent to Start Over Rover Animal Rescue at P.O. Box 594, Hastings, Nebraska 68902-0594. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Barb was born June 13, 1951 in Gary, Indiana to Bill & Jean (Conkey) Merritt. Barb enjoyed a lengthy career in the legal profession in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. She retired from the legal field in 2007 to accept a position with The Bridge, a therapeutic treatment program for women. In addition, Barb contributed her time and talents to other organizations, including Opportunity House and Child Protective Services. Barb is a member and a deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Hastings.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents.
