Born April 12, 1926 in Hastings, Nebraska to Neal & Jean (McHarry) Sergeant. Bonnie graduated from Juniata High School in 1943 and later from the Electronic Radio-Television Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. On October 20, 1946 she married Walter Sittner at Juniata United Methodist Church. Together they raised three sons: Dick, Brian, and Doug.

Bonnie began her career as a substitute mail carrier for Juniata and retired as Postmaster in 1985. She was a lifelong member of the Juniata United Methodist Church, serving as church choir director, singing with the Sweet Adelines and directing the Melodears of Hastings, Nebraska. She was an avid sports enthusiast cheering on family, the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Hastings College teams. Bonnie was recognized as a champion athlete in softball, golf, and bowling. She enjoyed learning, reading storybooks to her grandchildren, and passing along memories of her childhood and early adult life.

After retirement she fulfilled a dream by traveling to Holland to see the tulips. During this time, she worked for Vaughns Printing Co., delivered flowers, and remained active in her church. She was known for her radiant smile and sense of humor. Bonnie credited part of her long and vibrant life to her daily diet of coffee, peanut butter, and bananas. In her later years, Bonnie enjoyed sharing stories and laughter with family and friends under Nebraska skies on her front porch.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Elfie (Sergeant) McGavack.
