Bounkeut Detaksone

Blue Hill resident Bounkeut Detaksone, 77, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at Mary Lanning Healthcare.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Butler Volland Chapel and the cremation ceremony will follow at BV Cremation Center. There will be a Celebration of Life following the cremation ceremony at 201 N Webster St. in Blue Hill, Nebraska. Burial will be at the Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with the family present 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 13 at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.   

Bounkeut was born on September 6, 1948, in Sanasomboun, Laos to Phila & Phone Detaksone. He married Naly and together they had four children. Bounkeut came to the USA in 1980 and settled in Blue Hill, Nebraska. He worked for Monfort from 1980-2012. Bounkeut liked to spend time outdoors: hunting, fishing, and gardening. He especially loved spending time with friends and family.

He enjoyed volunteering at the Budda Temple for the past 12 years. Bounkeut faithfully supported the Wat lao buddhametta temple and community. His kindness, generosity, and dedication meant so much to the community. His good heart and support will always be remembered. His love and great life example will live on in all of his family and community.

Bounkeut is survived by his wife Naly; children: Khamp, Leu, Xaysna, and Nok; many grandchildren and a great-grandchild; brother, Khammouane; and sisters, Bounsouane, Synouane, Khamsakouane, Bounsaune, and Khammoune.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Khambore and Bounleut; and granddaughter, Kaila Page Detaksone.
