Caroline Colwell

Caroline Colwell, age 95, of Northwood, Iowa, formerly of Hastings, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Merline Duering officiating. Burial will be at the Juniata Cemetery in Juniata, NE. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Caroline was born on February 20, 1931, to Arthur Simmons and Olive Kindig. She was united in marriage to Oren Colwell, who preceded her in death.

Caroline is survived by her children: Jack Colwell (Gail), Pam Pruka (Ken), Nancy Fischer (Keith), and Faye Farmer. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Colwell; her sons, Richard and Michael Colwell; her parents, Arthur Simmons & Olive Kindig; her brother, Gene Simmons; and her siblings-in-law.
