Hastings resident Celia A. (Madsen) Ganow, 82, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020, at Providence Place in Hastings, NE.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings with Rev. Greg Allen-Pickett officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Thursday with family present 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church.
Celia was born on August 22, 1937, in Trenton, NE to Milton & Lucille (Taylor) Madsen. She graduated from Aurora Consolidated High School in 1955. Celia attended the University of Nebraska majoring in elementary education. She married Wayne Ganow on November 27, 1957; two children were born to this union, Marc and Susan.
Celia taught elementary school at Waverly Public Schools while Wayne was in dental school. She became Wayne’s receptionist after their dental practice was opened in Hastings, NE. Celia was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and Elder, as well as serving on many committees in the church.
Celia was a caring and loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and loved music and singing. Celia enjoyed traveling with her husband and family and watching Nebraska games. She had a spirit that was joyful, playful, and loving. Her joy at being a warm and wonderful wife and mother was constantly made known by her ready and beautiful smile.
