Hastings resident Charles Knight, 82, passed away April 26, 2026, at Mary Lanning Healthcare following a brief illness.
A brief graveside service will be held at Parkview Cemetery on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Chaplain John Mueller officiating. Viewing will be 9:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on Friday May 1, 2026. Book signing on Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to Start Over Rover at 134 N. Barnes Ave. Hastings, NE 68901, in Charles' memory.

He was born the sixth of seven children on October 11, 1943, in Snyder, TX, to Curtis Sr. and Ruby Opal (Joyner) Knight. Charles graduated from high school in Smyer, TX, in 1963, then completed General Motors Training School in Oklahoma City, OK. While employed by Chevrolet Motor Division, he earned a spot on the Only the Best Club in recognition of his outstanding performance as a Service Manager for two consecutive years. Following that achievement, he became one of the youngest recipients of The Legend of Leaders award for his outstanding sales performance.
He lived most of his younger years in Lubbock, TX, creating unforgettable memories, including marrying his treasured wife Donna Rice in 1982. They relocated to Hastings, NE, in 1988 following the birth of their only child. Charles spent his life farming, racing, and making the people around him smile. Charles' weekends revolved around racing and college football, especially the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Nebraska Cornhuskers. In 2005, he completed a full frame-off restoration of his beloved 1976 LT RS Chevy Camaro.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Curtis Jr. Knight; and four sisters, Sue Russell, Jean Corder, Verna Schertz, and Roxie Lee Knight.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna Knight; his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. McKay Davis and husband Jeremy Davis; his granddaughter, Zelda Davis of Bel Aire, KS; and his sister, Carol Preston of Lubbock, TX.
