Charles Smith

Hastings resident, Charles "Charlie" E. Smith, 88, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, July 8, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Tony Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Minden Cemetery, Minden, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Saturday, July 6, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., Sunday, July 7, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Charlie was born December 30, 1924 in Stockton, Kansas to Cecil & Alta (Baker) Smith. He married Lorene Pettit and worked as a truck driver, school bus driver, school custodian, and a farmer. He was a member of Good Sams for many years.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dan Smith; and daughter, Charlene Aabel.
