Charles Allen "Chuck" Wells

Former Hastings resident Charles Allen “Chuck” Wells, 74, of Ashland, NE, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Craig Clinch officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. with the family present 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. The family will be in Hastings beginning Wednesday, July 10th at 3113 West Laux, feel free to stop by and visit at your convenience. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Chuck was born January 26, 1950, in Hastings, NE to Millard “Bud” and Maxine (Wakelin) Wells. He attended Glenvil Public Schools and graduated in 1968 from Sandy Creek High School. On February 9, 1974, he married Betty Trausch in Hastings, NE. Chuck and Betty had two daughters, Jodie and Tami. He farmed beginning in 1974 until his retirement in 2013. Charles also owned and operated Wells Trucking. Charles and Betty resided in Hastings until 2013 when they moved to Iron Horse in Ashland, NE to be closer to family. 

Chuck enjoyed everything farming and spent his time attending numerous grandchildren’s activities. Chuck loved spending the winters in Arizona, going to the casino with Betty, spending time with friends at the local cafes around Hastings and Ashland, following Hastings St. Cecilia athletics, and fireworks on his favorite holiday, the fourth of July. 

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Millard “Bud” and Maxine Wells; parents-in-law, Ervin “Bud” and Kathryn Trausch; sister, Janice Stahl; brother, Ron Wells; brothers-in-law, Gary Krull and Mike Shaw. 

Survived by his spouse, Betty Wells – Ashland; daughters, Jodie (Blake) Alexander – Lincoln and Tami (Josh) Borer – Omaha; grandchildren, Parker Alexander, Lauren Alexander, Olivia Borer, and Kinley Borer; sisters, Glenda Krull, Patty Shaw, and Joan (Tom) Briese; brothers, Jim (Elaine) Wells, Bob (Deb) Wells, and Don (Jackie) Wells; and numerous nieces and nephews.
