Darlene O. Lyon

Hastings resident Darlene O. Lyon, 88, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026, at her home in Hastings, NE.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Pastor Josh Davis officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hastings, NE. Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Darlene was born April 7, 1938, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to Arthur and Edna (Schroeder) Schewe. She attended Zion Lutheran School till 8th grade and was confirmed in 1952. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1956 and married Richard Lyon on January 1, 1956; he preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also devoted 23 years of service to Good Samaritan, working in the dietary department before her retirement. Darlene will be dearly missed by her children, family, friends, and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Ronald; Son-in-law, Kurt Gilmore; sisters-in- law, Virginia Daugherty and Beverly Taylor.
