With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darrell Rowan, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and brother. Darrell was born on July 23, 1944, in Cozad and passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Darrell’s life was deeply rooted in his faith in Jesus, which he held close to his heart throughout his life. He hoped that everyone he met would experience the love of Jesus and accept Him as Lord in their own hearts.
Darrell proudly served his country through his military service with Army Intelligence, demonstrating dedication and commitment that his family deeply admires. He also worked as a truck driver for Metz Baking Company, where he was known for his reliability and hard work. He graduated from Cozad High School and later earned his bachelor's degree in business from Kearney State College.
On June 8, 1970, Darrell married Marilyn Allen Rowan. Marilyn was his devoted wife, and together they shared a life filled with love and support through all of life's journeys over the past 54 years.
Darrell was a faithful member of North Shore Church, finding both community and spiritual fulfillment there. He was the son of Lewis and Helen (Day) Rowan and leaves behind a legacy through his children: Marc (Mindee) Rowan, Shanda (Jim) Gangwish, Kristin (Jon) Aungst, and Jessica Craft. His family will always treasure the memories of their father.
His twelve grandchildren will fondly remember their grandfather’s wisdom, kindness, and the special times they shared. Darrell was also a proud great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Darrell’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at North Shore Church with Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. The burial will be held at a later date.
