David was born on October 8, 1944, in Red Cloud, Nebraska, to Leo and Geraldine (Crowell) Fisher. He graduated from Bladen High School in 1963 and pursued further training in automotive technology at Milford Trade School. David’s first work experience was at Kenesaw Ford Motors as an automotive technician.

David’s strong work ethic and love of meeting new people is shown through various jobs and companies he worked for throughout his life. From auto technician, gas station owner of Guide Rock Service Station, electrician, and trucker, David enjoyed the job of driving semi-truck the most. David started his truck driving career with Werner Construction, then went to Lukow’s Farms and finished his career with CPI after 33 years. Even in retirement, David remained active, working as Holstein’s town maintenance man.

David was united in marriage to Vonda Crowe, and together they were blessed with four children: Cindy, Candy, Connie, and Curt. On July 16, 1983, he married Donna (David) Avers, and extended their family with her two sons, Jamie and Chad Avers. Their life together was filled with deep love, partnership, and shared joy. They recently celebrated 42 years of marriage.

David will be remembered for his quiet strength, humble spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family. He found joy in simple pleasures—fishing, restoring old cars and tractors, traveling, spending time with loved ones, and telling stories that sparked both laughter and connection. He was a familiar presence at demo derbies as an official, and he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his children and grandchildren at their activities and sporting events. Other favorite pastimes include attending NASCAR/dirt track races, going to antique car and machinery shows and watching motorsports and Husker football.

David’s legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Donna; his daughters Cindy (Lauren Trausch), Candy (Jeff Consbruck), and Connie (Bill Lothrop); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; extended family; and many cherished friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, his son Curt Fisher; and his daughter-in-law, Michelle (Fisher) Sterup.

David’s life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, and love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
