David L. Sawicki

Hastings resident David L. Sawicki, 74, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Butler Volland Funeral Home Chapel in Hastings, Nebraska, with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. Burial will be at Grand Island Veterans Cemetery in Grand Island, NE. Book signing will be Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 9:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. David was born July 31, 1952, in Grand Island, NE, to Lavern and Esther Sawicki. David married Pam (Hansen) on April 3, 1982. After graduating high school in Grand Island, NE David ventured out to California where he joined the Marines and attended Cal State Fullerton College. One of David’s joys was knowing that his son Nathan followed in his footsteps and joined the Marines. David worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 38years. Starting out as a Letter Carrier then working his way up to a Post Master later retiring from Aurora in 2015. David’s passion was riding his Harley along side his wife whom he loved dearly. They were blessed to be able to travel to all 50 states along with Canada and Mexico. David was very proud of all his children along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially his wife of 44 years.

David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steven.
