Hastings resident, Denelda "Nell" E. Ackerman, 78, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Saturday, January 15, 2011; 10:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, January 13, 2011; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Friday, January 14, 2011; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with the family present 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Nell E. Ackerman Memorial Fund.

Nell was born February 27, 1932 to Harry P. & Sarah E. (Mortimore) Callan in Stockville, Nebraska. She attended Hastings High School. Nell married Wilbert "Willie" H. Ackerman on July 20, 1948. Nell was bookkeeper for the family businesses, a homemaker and an excellent cook. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with her family; the fun times spent with her friends and she valued the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Nell was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Devona Becker; brother, Harold "Cal" Callan; and son-in-law, Galen Berney.
