Diane Renee McLeod, 61, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at her home in Hastings, Nebraska.

A funeral service will be held at First St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hastings, NE, with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating at 11:00 A.M. on Friday June 12, 2026. Interment will follow at Concordia Cemetery, Juniata, NE. Visitation will be held at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 1-6 p.m. with family present from 5-6 p.m. The family extends its sincere gratitude to all who have offered their prayers, support, and kindness during this difficult time. Diane was born on October 1, 1964, in Hastings, Nebraska, to Eldon and Susan (Pierce) Grothen. She graduated from Adams Central High School in 1983. She was raised in Hastings and remained deeply rooted in the community throughout her life.

On December 30, 1983, Diane married William "Bill" McLeod. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and devotion. Diane was a dedicated Wife, Mom, Auntie, and Grammy whose greatest joy came from caring for her family. She devoted many years to raising her three daughters and supporting the family farm, where she served as the farm's bookkeeper with diligence and care. Her love was expressed not through grand gestures but through a lifetime of faithful service, support, and presence for those she loved.

Later in life, Diane found fulfillment in working alongside friends at a local craft store where she served as operational and social media manager. She enjoyed helping customers, sharing her creativity, and forming lasting friendships through her work.

Over the years, she was an Adams Central Band Parent, and an AC Booster Club President. She was instrumental in starting the Adams Central Schools Foundation and the AC Alumni Association. She also served as the Adams County 4-H Council President, Adams County Extension Board President and Secretary, 4-H Foundation Treasurer, and 4-H Livestock Auction Organizer, along with countless committees for the 4-H section of the Adams County Fair. She was a member of the Nebraska Independent Fabric Shops and the Hastings Quilt Guild.

She is survived by her husband, Bill McLeod of Hastings; her daughters, Pamala and Justin Gregg of Hastings, and their sons, Braxton and Landon; Cassandra and Luke Bishard of Parker, CO, and their children, Ellianna, Lillian, Stetson, and Goldie; and Karissa McLeod of Pickrell, NE. She is also survived by her father, Eldon Grothen and mother-in-law, Klara McLeod; her sister, Karen and Darrin Nienhueser; her nephew, Joshua Nienhueser; her nieces, Desirae and Tristan Junker, and their children, Rori and Mason; and Melinda Nienhueser, along with many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Grothen, and father-in-law, William C. McLeod.

Diane's family will remember her as a devoted daughter, loving wife, caring mother, proud grammy, and faithful friend. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the values she instilled through her example.
