Donald Dwight "Don" Greenough was born on September 8, 1952, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Charles and Neola (Jensen) Greenough. He passed away on November 4, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, friendships, and a family who loved him dearly.

Don proudly served in the Army National Guard with the Mapleton, Iowa, unit from September 10, 1971, through September 9, 1977.

Don shared 53 years of marriage with his loving wife, Patricia (Scheer) Greenough. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, hard work, and countless memories.

Don dedicated 59 years of his life to the gaming industry as an operator/owner. Throughout those years, he built much more than a career. He built friendships, earned trust, and developed relationships that lasted a lifetime. He took great pride in helping his clients and was always willing to lend a hand, solve a problem, or go the extra mile. To Don, his clients were never just customers; he treated them like family, and many became lifelong friends. His generosity, loyalty, and willingness to help others made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to work with him.

If you knew Don, you knew his sense of humor, his strong work ethic, and his generous heart. He loved being outside, sitting around visiting and shooting the breeze with anyone who stopped by. He enjoyed keeping busy with yard work and was always finding something to do. Whether he was picking up sticks and tossing them into the back of someone's truck, he was never one to pass up an opportunity to help out or give someone a hard time. He enjoyed the simple things in life, especially good conversation, a little humor, and spending time with the people around him. Those everyday moments are the ones that will bring smiles and memories for years to come.

Above all, Don loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Greenough; his children, Brian Greenough, Brett Greenough, Ryan Greenough, and Jessica Rumsey; and his beloved grandchildren, Logan, Austin, Izabelle, Stella, Maci, and Cali Rumsey. Sisters Letty (Bob) Szabo & Janet (Lee) Stukenholtz, Brothers Lyle (Ruth) & Pat Greenough. Many nieces & nephews. His family was his greatest pride, and the memories they created together will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Neola (Jensen) Greenough; his beloved son, Brian Greenough; and his brothers, Eugene Greenough and Roger Greenough. Though their absence leaves an empty place in the hearts of those who remain, the memories, love, and bonds they shared will forever be part of Don's story.

Don leaves behind more than a lifetime of memories. He leaves behind a family who loved him, friendships that lasted decades, and countless people whose lives were better because they knew him. His chair outside may be empty, and the familiar conversations, laughter, and occasional wisecracks will be missed, but the memories of Don will live on in every story shared and every life he touched.

He spent his life showing up for people, lending a hand, working hard, and making time to visit. That is how we will remember him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Until we meet again, Don.
