Hastings resident, Donald J. Stromer, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska.
Services will be Monday, December 20, 2010; 10:00 A.M. at Second Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. W.T. Israel officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, west of Glenvil, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, December 18, 2010; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, December 19, 2010; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family; a memorial will be established at a later date.
Donald was born February 3, 1926 in Glenvil, Nebraska to Henry & Anna (Koepke) Stromer. On June 25, 1950 he married Darlene Buhr at the Hanover Presbyterian Church. Darlene preceded him in death on December 20, 2004. He worked as a linesman for Hastings Utilities. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Eagles Aerie #592, and the American Legion in Glenvil, Nebraska.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene Stromer; great-grandson, Javin Witte; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters.
