While at HC, Donna was a member of Sigma Tau Sigma Sorority and also a Homecoming attendant. She majored in elementary education and taught in the Lincoln (NE) Public Schools from 1952 to 1954.
On June 25, 1954, she married Richard “Dick” Oberg; she then taught in Hastings Public Schools for one year before becoming a substitute teacher for the better part of five decades. The couple was married for 54 years before Dick’s death in 2008. To this union five daughters were born.

She also was an active in HT PEO, YMCA – where she swam and walked into her 80’s, and many bridge groups. Golf, family ski trips to Colorado, walks through Libs Park with family, and baking cookies, brownies, and cinnamon rolls were some of her favorite pastimes.
Faith and family were the most important parts of her life. She was raised with strong values, a sharp sense of humor, and appreciated life’s simple joys like playing cards with her family and friends.
