Following high school graduation, she worked at the Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha which manufactured the Enola Gay modified B-29 plane. On March 9, 1947, she married Wesley D. Yuhl and they resided in Lincoln where Donna enjoyed her work career at Ameritas. Together, they enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, playing cards with friends, and their beloved dogs Sparky and Mia.

Donna and Fred relocated to Hastings after her retirement. Following Fred's death in 2004, Donna traveled to many places both in the United States and countries abroad. She had fond memories of her travels and spoke frequently about her adventures. Donna was active in her church and volunteer activities and enjoyed gardening, golf, embroidery, and sharing time with family and friends.
