Hastings resident Dorcas E. Campbell, 91, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Kensington, Hastings, NE.       

 
Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 11, at First United Methodist Church in Hastings with Brandee Schram officiating. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Mary Lanning Hospice, and Morrison Cancer Center. Dorcas was born May 10, 1932, in Minneapolis, MN, and is the daughter of  Rev. William and Dagmar (Kildebeck) Goldbeck. She graduated from Juniata High School and the Omaha School of Nursing. Dorcas married James “Jim” R. Campbell, Sr. on November 25, 1955.

 

Dorcas was named after Dorcas in the bible which she was known for good works and acts of charity, which truly represents Dorcas.

Dorcas worked as a nurse at Hastings Regional Center, Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, and Good Samaritan Village. She also did private caregiving and worked at Mid-Nebraska Services. Dorcas was a volunteer at the Morrison Cancer Center, Teammates, Adams County Bailiff, CASA, First United Methodist, Stephen Ministry, YWCA, co-founder of Cub Scout Pack #222, and den mother, Mary Lanning volunteer, including Hospice. She received the 2005 YWCA Tribute to Women Award and the 2008 Bill Sole Award.

Dorcas was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; brothers, Phil & Paul Goldbeck; and infant daughter, Joyce Elaine Campbell.
