Guide Rock resident Douglas Lynn “Doug” Knehans, 75, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025, in Guide Rock, NE.
Private family graveside services with military rites will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Webster County southwest of Lawrence. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
Doug was born to Gerhard Carl and Lenora (Krueger) Knehans on May 20, 1950, at the Maternity House in Guide Rock, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rosemont, NE. He graduated from Guide Rock High School and attended Kearney State College (UNK) for three years. From 1970 to 1972 he served in the U.S. Army and graduated from 8” Atomic Projectile Assembly School. In 1973, he began farming and raising cattle on the family farm. During these years he served on and was past President of the Guide Rock Volunteer Fire Department and Vice President and President of the Farmers Union Elevator Board of Directors.
On October 30, 1982, he married Linda Schlachter, the love of his life at First St. Paul’s Lutheran in Hastings, NE. Born to them is Amy and Brian. During his lifetime he sold DeKalb and Asgrow seed for over 30 years. Doug was a member of the VFW and American Legion and was a life member of the DAV.
He was most proud of his family, but also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, Husker and UNK sports, and traveling.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
