Earl May

Former area resident, Earl 'Buddy' May, 80, of Omaha, Nebraska, died Friday, November 11, 2005 at the Nebraska Skilled Nursing facility.

Private family interment at a later date.

Mr. May was born June 27, 1925 in Kenesaw, Nebraska to Howard & Nettie (Davis) May. He attended Hastings Public Schools and joined the United States Army on January 29, 1944 and was honorably discharged from Fort Leonard, Missouri on January 6, 1946. He was a private first class, serving in Italy during WWII. As a result of a bullet wound to his left hand, he spent several months at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Colorado. He returned to Hastings and worked for Debus Baking Company for 25 years. He then moved to the Omaha area and worked for Magnus Metal of Fremont, Nebraska until he retired. He was the team leader of their union for many years. He was a member of The Salvation Army, the Order of the Eagles #200 and Post #7718 of the V.F.W.

Mr. May was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Hazel Oellerich and Ruth Levie.
